Match Preview: Ospreys vs Leinster Rugby

After the high of the home win over Leicester, Leinster came crashing down to earth with a thumping defeat last Sunday in Toulouse.  Though the glut of injuries to key men was a factor, it was still a desperately disappointing performance.  The tactical advances seemingly made in the Leicester match disappeared into thin air as the Leinster backs reverted to the good old "run it from anywhere and everywhere" plan.  It's hard to recall a Leinster backline knocking on so much ball in one match.  The failure to prevent Toulouse scoring a bonus point was the final indignity.

Match Report: Leinster Rugby vs Connacht Rugby

Two late tries from Gordon D'Arcy gave Leinster a twenty point win over Connacht last Friday night. However it was certainly not the comprehensive win the scoreline would suggest. The abrasive Connacht pack made life very difficult for Leinster, with openside Johnny O'Connor causing havoc at the breakdown. Referee Peter Fitzgibbon ruled the offside line very loosely and Connacht took full advantage. After an early miss their Australian out-half Tim Donnelly kicked a penalty to give Connacht the lead.

After last week's ultimately disappointing draw against Ulster, Leinster face Connacht this Friday hoping to get back on the winning trail. After settling back in last week, the big-name international players in the backline will be hoping to make more of an impression than they did in Ravenhill.

For the second successive season it was honours even at Ravenhill between Leinster and Ulster. Last season Leinster took some grim satisfaction from the 6-all draw played in horrendous conditions. However the memory of this game will leave nothing but frustration as it was a game they should have won.
