Match Preview: Leinster Rugby vs Edinburgh Rugby

by Jim O'Connor, 2010-10-31

Leinster meet Edinburgh tomorrow evening at the RDS hoping to make it a perfect October with five wins from five. Circumstances have made this task a lot tougher though. As Ireland play South Africa next weekend, Leinster are severely depleted by players held back by the Irish management. Normally Edinburgh would be in the same boat but as Scotland don't have a match until the 13th of November they have full access to their players this week.

Match Preview: Connacht Rugby vs Leinster Rugby

by Jim O'Connor, 2010-10-22

From 45,000 people in Wembley Stadium to between 4,000 and 5,000 people in the Sportsground, it's very much back to basics for Leinster this weekend. They've had a better start to their Heineken Cup campaign than they would have dared to dream of, but that now has to be parked until December. Between then and now they have five Magners League fixtures and they'll be looking to improve their position of eighth in the table.

Match Preview: Leinster Rugby vs Munster Rugby

by Jim O'Connor, 2010-10-02

Leinster take on Munster on Saturday evening in the first competitive rugby match to be played at the redeveloped Lansdowne Road. Leinster have essentially ceded home advantage in order to cash in on the fixture's widespread appeal, although in the current economic climate you can't really blame them. There's no doubt though that Munster players and supporters will be far happier coming to the bright and shiny Aviva, rather than to the RDS where they've only won once. Last season they endured one of their worst defeats as a professional team there, when they lost 30-0. It was one of four consecutive defeats to Leinster in which Munster didn't even score a try. Munster will be absolutely desperate to bring that losing streak to an end and judging on recent form, they've every right to be confident.

Match Report: Edinburgh Rugby vs Leinster Rugby

by Stephen Devine, 2010-09-25

Many were pessimistic about Leinsters chances before the season started, but even the most pessimistic among us wouldn't have thought that we would get to the end of September having only won a single game. It is important however to point out that in Michael Chekias first month in charge, Leinsters record was only two wins from four, including a loss in Murrayfield.

Match Preview: Edinburgh Rugby vs Leinster Rugby

by Jim O'Connor, 2010-09-25

After last week's heavy defeat in a rain-sodden Treviso, Leinster would have loved to come back to the warm embrace of the RDS. Instead they're off to draughty Murrayfield where the voices of the few thousand that turn up will echo around the rows of empty seats. When full, Murrayfield is an excellent venue but when empty it's a depressing place for fans and players alike. Nevertheless, Leinster's players don't have time to feel sorry for themselves. With Munster arriving at the Aviva stadium next week, followed by Heineken Cup matches against Racing Metro and Saracens, Leinster need to find their feet and quick.
