Match Preview: Leinster Rugby vs Ospreys

by Jim O'Connor, 2013-05-02

Last Saturday's Amlin cup match turned out to be a handy hit-out against a Biarritz team who showed exactly why they are in the bottom four of the Top 14. On a wonderful sunny day, Leinster scored five tries for the second time running in the competition as they tore the one dimensional Basques apart and essentially had the game won by half-time. Like an old-school French team, once Biarritz had lost they set about settling a few scores and there were some nasty off the ball incidents and some embarrassingly childish moments from players who should know better. But it was an enjoyable game overall although there are much tougher tests coming up.

Match Preview: Munster 'A' vs Leinster 'A'

by Jim O'Connor, 2013-04-26

If Leinster 'A' are going to win their first ever British and Irish Cup this season, they're going to have to do it the hard way. Match Preview: Zebre vs Leinster Rugby

by Jim O'Connor, 2013-04-19

Last week Leinster ground out a tough win against Munster in Thomond Park. In truth the performance was quite ordinary again. As with the games against Ulster and Connacht, Leinster were out-scored in terms of tries and had to rely on the immaculate boot of Ian Madigan for most of their points. Admittedly they did show great character to dig out the win in the last ten minutes but Joe Schmidt will know his side will have to find their real form soon if they are to challenge for silverware.

Match Preview: Munster Rugby vs Leinster Rugby

It was all going so well.

After Leinster beat Glasgow three weeks ago, they moved to the top of the table for the first time this season. A win over struggling Ulster in the RDS, where they'd been undefeated all season, and Leinster would be in a very strong position to top the table and ensure they were at home for the play-offs. Unfortunately Ulster hadn't read the script and they tore into Leinster's weak defensive line with abandon. Though they had to survive a siege on their line at the end, Ulster certainly deserved their win.

Match Preview: Leinster Rugby vs Ulster Rugby

by Jim O'Connor, 2013-03-29

Three months can be a long time in rugby.

When Ulster beat Leinster 27-19 in Belfast the weekend before Christmas, it put them 16 points ahead of them on the table. Leinster were down in the dumps having suffered three losses in a row for the first time in many years. Ulster were in flying form though with 14 wins from 15 games and were looking serious contenders in both the league and in Europe.
