Southern Kings vs Leinster Rugby
Pro14 Round 8 Conference B
NMU (Madibaz) Stadium, Port Elizabeth
Sunday, 4th November 2018, 14:45 (12:45 Irish time)

TV: Live on Eir Sports

Leinster play their only game this season in South Africa on Sunday afternoon.

Obviously this game is taking place in the shadow of the beginning of Ireland's Autumn International campaign but Leinster will want to keep their winning Pro14 run going while also giving valuable gametime to members of the wider squad. Last week Leinster were in Italy where they comfortably beat Treviso in an incredibly tedious match. But Leinster put in a professional performance and with a three week break before their next match at home to the Ospreys, they will want to sign off with another win.

Their task mightn't be that straightforward though, as the Kings have been showing some decent form this season, especially at home. They had a shock win over Glasgow and last week they pushed the Scarlets to the end, just going down to a late score in a 41-34 cracker of a match. The Kings Head Coach, Deon Davids, has made six changes and one positional switch to the team that lost last week.

There are three changes to the backline with Stephan Ungerer starting at scrum-half to make his Guinness PRO14 debut. A new centre pairing will see Tertius Kruger coming in at inside centre alongside Harlon Klaasen. Winger Michael Makase will start at right wing replacing Bjorn Basson and Yaw Penxe switches to the other wing. Justin Forwood returns to the starting XV at tighthead prop and Stephan Greeff will pair up with captain John-Charles Astle in the second row. A new backrow combination sees Martinus Burger joining openside flanker Stephan de Wit and Number eight Ruaan Lerm.

For Leinster there are seven changes to the team that started in Italy last week. Dave Kearney returns from injury to replace his brother Rob at full back. After scoring his first senior Leinster try last weekend Conor O'Brien gets a deserved start at inside centre and Noel Reid takes over the number ten jersey. In the pack Ed Byrne and Michael Bent come into the front row and Ross Molony comes in to partner skipper Scott Fardy in the second row. In the backrow Josh Murphy starts at blindside alongside Dan Leavy and Max Deegan.

The Kings look dangerous when the match is loose so Leinster should be looking to control the match through the pack and that should be enough.
