Match Preview: Leinster Rugby vs Edinburgh Rugby

by Jim O'Connor, 2012-10-05

Leinster got out of jail last week as a monster Johnny Sexton drop goal grabbed back a game that looked to have slipped through their fingers. As often happens when so many internationals return at once it was an uneven performance from Leinster. Truth be told, Treviso played most of the rugbyand deserved the victory. But once again Leinster showed their character and will to win and Devin Toner did great work to regain the restart and set up the drive that ultimately led to Sexton's drop goal. So even if the performance wasn't memorable, it's still a useful result to have in the bag because by the looks of that Treviso side they'll take a lot of points off Leinster's rivals this season.

by Jim O'Connor, 2012-09-14

Leinster responded to their heavy opening day defeat by beating the Dragons by 20 points last week. Match Preview: Scarlets vs Leinster Rugby

Those damn Ospreys!!!

Leinster had their most successful season ever last term. They won the most games, lost only four all season and retained the Heineken Cup after going unbeaten throughout that competition. Yet, the season finished on something of a sour note as the Ospreys beat them in a thrilling Pro12 final in the RDS. The Leinster players were devastated at the final whistle, giving the lie to the current English propaganda about Irish teams not caring about their league.
