For most of the season, Ireland's top three provinces seemed to have the top three spots in the Pro12 locked down. It seemed that it would only be a matter of where each of Leinster, Munster and Ulster finished in the top three and that Glasgow and the Ospreys could squabble between each other for fourth place. It's a European knock-out weekend and for the first time since May 2010, Leinster's senior team have nothing to do with themselves. Though they went out at the pool stages last season, they at least had the consolation of the Amlin Cup. True, the cup meant little or nothing in itself, but at least it was something to do to pass the time. However this time the Leinster first team have nothing to do except jealously watch the other teams in the semi-finals.

After winning ten games in a row, Leinster have now lost two on the bounce after the Ospreys beat them last Friday evening. The result in itself wasn't a disgrace, especially coming five days after their bruising encounter in Toulon. However once again it was a very poor performance from the Leinster team who at times looked utterly clueless as to what the gameplan was.

Leinster take on the champions Toulon in the first ever meeting between the two sides. Toulon are relatively new to the top table, having risen meteorically from the French lower divisions to European champions in just seven years.
