Match Preview: Leinster Rugby vs Edinburgh Rugby

by Jim O'Connor, 2007-12-06

The Heineken Cup resumes tomorrow night as Leinster take on Edinburgh in the RDS.  Leinster go into this match on a high after last week's historic victory over Munster in Cork.  It was a special night for Leinster as the pack fronted up and beat Munster at their own game in a match played in horrendous conditions.  After the great performance against Leicester, the pack took a step back against Toulouse, but they've stepped up to the mark again.  This type of performance has to become the standard from which they don't waver.

Match Preview: Leinster Rugby vs Leicester Tigers

by Jim O'Connor, 2007-11-12

Leinster and Leicester have a rich Heineken Cup history having met eight times in total. In the first five years of the competition they were drawn in the same pool a remarkable three times. Those six meetings were split three wins apiece, including two famous wins at Donnybrook in '97 and '99. Since then they have met twice in the quarter-finals but Leicester won handily both times. Leicester won 29 - 18 at Welford Road in 2002 but it's the 2005 defeat at home that will be freshest in Leinster fans minds. On this occasion Leinster were playing in front of a full house in Lansdowne Road. However Leinster never showed up and Leicester steamrollered over them in Declan Kidney's last game in charge. If anything, the 29 - 13 score flattered Leinster.
