Womens AIL Update

After 6 rounds of the Ladies AIL Division 1 there's a familiar face on top. UL Bohemians have reached the summit courtesy of their win against Old Belvedere and a walkover against Clonmel. It would be a brave person who bet against them being there at the end of the season but that being said there are just 5 points separating the top three and a lot of rugby yet to be played. The other spots at the top are taken up by Highfield and Old Belvedere.

Blackrock have continued their struggles, losing in rounds 5 and 6 and they sit second bottom with only Clonmel below them on -3 points. St Mary's are just one place above Blackrock and equal on points, although they do have a game in hand. Division 1 takes a break for a couple of weeks until November 21st with the Interpro season starting in the meantime.

Two Leinster teams are slugging it out at the head of Division 2N with Navan and Cill Dara occupying places one and two. Cill Dara are the only unbeaten team in the division but Navan find themselves top courtesy of 3 try bonus points in their 4 wins. Longford are only 6 points behind and lie fourth in the table. Malahide made a good start with 2 wins but have lost their last 3 and lie 6th. Dublin University have found it hard to build from an opening day win and find themselves in 8th place.

Divisions 3 & 4 have concluded the first part of their season with a bit of re-jigging. NUIM Barnhall "Babes" secured the Division 3 Leinster title with a win over Garda. The Division 4 Leinster title is to be decided between New Ross & Mullingar. New Ross, Mullingar, Rathdrum and Clondalkin are all promoted to Division 3 for the second part of the season with Newbridge dropping down and sections A & B of Division 4 combining.

The Interprovincial season starts again on Sunday November 7th with Leinster taking on Ulster in Donnybrook. Leinster will be looking to go one better having lost to Munster in the final last season. Munster will be the team to beat and are looking for a fifth title in a row.

Leinster V Ulster in is Donnybrook, kick off is 14:30 and admission is free.
