Leinster traveled to Glasgow with internationals Malcolm O'Kelly and Shane Horgan back in tow and it was Boyne man Horgan who captained the team for the first time. Fionn Carr made his Magners League debut coming in for Luke Fitzgerald who was a late withdrawal.

Once again the Leinster - Llanelli fixture featured a glut of tries.  Unfortunately for Leinster, this time it was the Scarlets who got the lions' share of them.  The first half was competitive enough, indeed had Jonny Sexton's kicking been better, Leinster could even had taken a lead into half-time.  There were warning signs there though, especially at the breakdown.  However, the second half defensive collapse left the Leinster fans stunned.  Most Leinster fans were excited when the young, promising back-line was named but the flip-side to this was the lack of experienced heads to steady the ship once things started going wrong.

This Magners encounter produced a first. It was the first time a Magners league match had been officiated by a non-neutral referee. In the era of professional rugby this is a truly staggering occurrence.

As we pass through the equinox and our evenings become shorter and shorter, it can only mean one thing to the many provincial clubs around Leinster, the Re/Max Leinster League is almost upon us. With last years worthy champions Naas now plying there trade in Division 3 of the AIL, a Division that is no stronger than Leinster League Division 1 and lacks the intensity of the many derby games that the Leinster league can throw up every winter, there is everything to play for this year.

Amidst the doom and depression of Ireland's dismal showing over in France, there was a silver cloud for Leinster fans last Friday.  Leinster's win over in Cardiff was a fantastic result, especially in taking a bonus point home as well.
