A tough task awaited Leinster as the League's top two clashed in South Wales. The Welsh region had inflicted Leinster's last league defeat at the RDS, and on that day Leinster had defended poorly. On this visit Leinster knew that they couldn't afford to repeat that performance or else their lead at the top would be eroded. The weatherman predicted a wet and windy evening, not suited to either teams expansive style and the weather lived up to its billing.

It's a massive game for Leinster tomorrow evening against second placed Scarlets. Games between Leinster and Llanelli are generally great for the neutrals, with a remarkable 26 tries scored in the last three meetings between the sides. Whether we'll see such a free-scoring game this time is debatable, given the harsh weather forecast, but either way it'll be a vital game for both teams.

Leinster knew that their eight point gap at the top was not enough with crunch games ahead and that an emphatic was needed. Shane Horgan in particular was looking to mark the signing of his new two-year contract with a big performance.
