Leinster went into the final group game on top of Group 2 and knowing that they had to match the result of rivals Wasps who had travelled to Castres. The Leinster supporters in attendance were hoping for the four try win that would guarantee a safe passage through to the last eight and also had one eye on the events in south-west France.

By the time Leinster kick off against Edinburgh at one o'clock on Sunday afternoon, they should know what they have to do. Depending on how the weekend's results have gone it could be that a win on it's own will be enough for qualification. However, no matter what happens, Leinster know that a bonus point win will leave them top of the group no matter what Wasps do.

This match was being touted as the Battle of the Capitals. It was quite grand talk but would the match live up to the hype? There were obvious flaws in the gimmick thought up by the marketing men and women. Wasps are of course not really from London playing their games in Buckinghamshire and Leinster is a province of twelve counties and many cities, depending on your classification. The harshest of critics would also point out that Twickenham is a town outside the city limits but maybe we can give them that one. So with the Capital idea dismissed would we have a battle on our hands?

Leinster took on Connacht with a modicum of revenge in mind. In October they had suffered defeat at the Sportsgrounds to their Western counterparts by an agonising single point. On that night Michael Cheika had elected to rest a lot of his bigger name players, and this time around there was again a slightly experimental look to the team.
