Match Report: Leinster Rugby vs Munster Rugby

by hands away, 2009-10-05

"Once off? my d'arse"

Leinster simply out classed their southern neighbours tonight and in doing so put to bed any whispers murmuring around outside the sold out RDS before this evening's derby that "that day" in croker was only a once off. In fact the similarities to last May were uncanny, both centres O'Driscoll and D'arcy added to their tallies and of coarse the score that put the game to bed again came giftwrapped by way of an intercept as a result of Munster chasing the game, courtesy of Shane Horgan. The interpro that was once described as "showponies vs. cart horses", to continue the equine analogy was more like thoroughbreds vs. dressage steeds - more fitting of the of the royal showground surroundings.

Here we go again!

Leinster take on Munster at the RDS this Saturday evening. The theme of the match will of course be REVENGE!

For Munster it's revenge for what happened in Croke Park last May when they were comprehensively beaten 25-6!

For Leinster it's revenge for what happened in the RDS a year ago when they were comprehensively beaten 18-0!

Leinster return to Murrayfield this Saturday, the scene of their greatest ever day last May. It was of course ironic that they finally achieved their first Heineken Cup triumph in the stadium where they've suffered so much disappointment down the years. Leinster's Magners League record in Murrayfield is pretty dismal with only one win in eight efforts, and that was against a depleted team (the SRFU were resting internationals for a Scotland - Barbarians match......yeah I know, but that's the SRFU for you!) What's more they're facing a Edinburgh team in fine form with nine consecutive Magners League wins in a row (including last season).
